Job description

The design and communication of end-to-end solutions to enable and guide the design and development of integrated solutions across multiple platforms that meet current and future business needs, with track record on domain specific modelling, database design, and JEE to cloud refactoring.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:

BCS, TOGAF, SWEBOK or other equivalent and valid architecture certificates

Relevant professional qualifications in software engineering, computer science, or computer systems engineering.

 Additional qualifications, in IT related disciplines advantageous.

•         Solution design in JEE, SpringBoot, EclipseLink, Weblogic, python and Hazelcast cache, Activiti and BPMN.

•         Solution design in cloud technologies and microservices.

•         Data architecting in the context of JEE, spring, Oracle stack.

•         Proven record in designing and delivering end-to-end business solutions implemented across multiple components, platforms and technologies (both cloud and on-prem).

•         Experience using agile software development methodologies (i.e. Kanban, Scrum and other lean techniques).

•         Machine learning and data analytics, particularly operational analytics, and experience with ANSI SQL and the Kusto Query Language.

•         Technical management of multi-disciplinary teams.

•         Technical solutions on EMA’s Clinical Trials Information System (CTIS).

•         Architectural frameworks such as TOGAF, and UML.

•         Design of APIs and experience with the CTIS MSAPI.

•         Design of event-driven architectures.

•         Technical solutions on providing APIs in the context of EMA and CTIS.

SPECIFIC EXPERTISE

Contribute to the creation and review of end-to-end domain architecture and processes to support the strategic requirements of the business.

Identify the business benefits of alternative strategies.

Design solutions that comply with Client’s Enterprise Architecture standards, communicate solution architecture and ensure it is sufficiently documented.

Contribute in the specification of business requirements and ensure that are feasible and economical.

Ensure compliance between business strategies, enterprise architecture and technology directions, setting strategies, policies, standards and practices.

Produce solution architecture deliverables, as per the SOL team’s standards. 

Contribute to the decision-making process related to the solution architecture and ensure they are justified and documented.

Conduct proof of concepts for new technology developments and keep up to date technology standards.

Ensure that domain architecture decisions are justified and documented.

Assess and manage associated risks.

Ensure that platforms and components selected for delivery of a domain specific solution are integrated to achieve domain objectives. 

Present domain architecture to governance bodies, address resulting architectural actions and participate in the overall IT governance structures.

Collaborate strongly with architects in developing the solution, by applying the architectural principles.

Partner with Platform Architects from the Strategic Platforms (I-SP) department in order to assess and optimise domain functional requirements and augment with technical requirements from the platform architecture.

Contribute to solutions testing and identify potential improvements to the domain solution, processes and to the strategic platforms according to agreed designs/requirements. 

Autonomous in managing activities based on priorities given by the Project Manager.

Reports outcome of testing through the JIRA SDLC tool/ Azure DevOps.

Identify potential improvements to the process and to the software products according to agreed designs/requirements. 

Production of the relevant technical documentation, such as system designs, class designs and documentation for the support team. 

Capacity to assist the support team in training the users of the system. 

Has strong technical background, specifically the delivery of complex software systems.

Knowledge of IT Service Management and/or Risk frameworks, and/or international standards. 

Review the fitness of technical solutions delivered by the supplier.
